TVs have come a long way from when you walk into a store and find the usual brands from Sony, LG, or Samsung. Nowadays, new brands are popping up, each claiming to be the best in the business.
One such brand is Komodo TVs. They are a California company that specializes in LED and Ultra High Definition displays. One of their brand promises is to offer affordable screens with excellent picture quality. Taking this into account, here are some of the units we have reviews for and what we think overall.
Komodo offers screen sizes varying from 32 inches to 65 inches. Unfortunately, getting a reseller that has the product in stock can pose a challenge. Retailers are going with established brands, as these sell much better.
In coming up with this komodo TV review, we discovered that most TVs were in production back in 2019. The Komodo brand is now trading under the Sceptre Group, with some of the komodo models being phased out. Below are some of the TVs that you can still find on the market.

To start, you have the Komodo by Spectre KU515R. The TV comes with impressive display statistics that rival any manufacturer in the 4K TV market. You get 3840 X 2160 pixels, powered by an LED-backlit screen. Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation take out all the blur in your fast-moving sequences.
The UHD Upscaling feature also works brilliantly well. It enhances any image from any source to full 4K imagery. Brightness and contrast are also on another level. You get up to 16.7 million colors from the screen, which incomparable to other high-end TVs we have reviewed.
On a connectivity level, the TV has 4 HDMI ports with ARC and CEC. CEC allows you to control all your devices with one remote. However, here is where some of the trouble starts with the set. There is only 1 USB port available and no PC Audio in or VGA inputs on the unit.
The manufacturer did put some effort into the design. It features two metal stands that you can install on the extremities of the TV. The screen borders are negligible at only 1.5 cm for the top left and right frames and only 2.7 for the bottom edge.

All in all, the TV is a steal in comparison to other 4K models in the market. You can get yourself one from eBay at a very modest price.
Another reasonably priced model from Komodo. The TV offers multi-use functionality, either as a gaming screen, a computer monitor, or regular viewing. It features a LED-backlit screen that puts out a resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels. You still get a viewing angle of 178 degrees from its LED screen, with HDMI support for 1080/24p being the maximum.
Unlike the previous model, you have 3 HDMI ports with only one supporting MHL connection. Other notable inputs include 1 PC audio and 1 VGA, which allow you to hook up your old computer to the set.
The sound is not too shabby for a 32’’ TV. Two 10-watt speakers pump out the volume and function pretty well as compared to other models. You get noise reduction and Auto Level volume control in-built, which helps with the sound quality.
The design is not too bad. It appears a bit plastic and looks cheap, but that is the case in many low-cost TVs. You get a VESA mount allowance of 200 X 100 mm. However, this does not come in handy much as the TV is only 32 inches.

If you a looking for a cheap multi-use TV set, you have a winner with the KX-322. It supports connections with Amazon Fire Stick, Google Chromecast, and most Android TV boxes. You can get a new one on Ebay.
Finally, we have the most massive screen from Komodo’s product line. It features more of the same functionality when put side by side with the KU515R. You still get MEMC technology to help with the motion blur. There is also HML and CEC connectivity.
What is different from the KU 515R is the capabilities of the HDMI ports. They come enabled with HDCP 2.2, which means any material you view in 4K resolution is under copyright protection. Other than the above, all else remain the same, barring the screen size.

Unfortunately, finding this TV in the market is extremely rare. Most retailers do not have it in stock. Until Spectre and Komodo decide to ship out more units, the TV will remain a fantasy for now.

Komodo TV offers excellent picture quality for a bargain price. The MEMC 120 is an impressive technology that eliminates any lag on picture input. The availability of multiple connection ports with CEC and ARC capabilities, makes the TVs great for use over multiple devices.
Sadly, these are the only strong points that their TVs have. The lack of a product line that offers Smart TV functionality is a major buzzkill. There is no Bluetooth connectivity; neither do you have Wi-Fi. Their availability is also a significant issue. You will struggle to get a new set to buy unless you visit a brick and mortar store. With more cons than pros, in this case, the TVs get an overall score of 3 out of 10.
You can buy televisions that bear the brand name Komodo also on offer from Sceptre Inc. The two companies collaborate on some TV models to provide you with extra features for your set whenever you buy. However, they each have their exclusive models as brands.
So far from what we have seen, they are quite reliable and will not breakdown easily with overuse. However, given their scarcity in the market, you will struggle to get a replacement part to fix one if it breaks down.
There have been no new models in the production pipeline since the beginning of 2020. It is unlikely that there will be any more komodo tv reviews after this one. Unless the company makes a formal announcement, you are stuck with the above TV models.
The TVs are still available in some retailers such as eBay. So, the verdict is still out on whether any models will cease production.

No one should be buying smart TV’s. If you want smart features, you want them as a Roku or Fire Stick. Smart TV’s don’t ahve all the services you want, and aren’t updated. I can’t believe someone reviewing TV’s dings a company for no “smart” TV’s. its a waste of money..
